Places to visit.
Kotor Old Town
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kotor nestles at the head of the bay and also offers an expansive area perfect for exploring. Take a stroll around the old town’s maze of narrow, cobbled lanes and climb the city walls to get a view of the bay from high above.
San Giovanni Fortress.
Climb up to the top of San Giovanni Fortress above Old Town Kotor about 1 1/2 hours walk going up and 1 hour decent. Summer months when it is hot it is advisable to do this walk early morning and take a bottle of water with you. The view at the top is worth the trek worth.

Roman Mosaics in Risan
Risan is the oldest urban centre in the inner part of Boka Kotorska Bay. The town used to be the throne capital of the Illyrian state in the 3rd century BC, at the time of Queen Teuta. The Romans occupied the town in 167 AD, and after the Diocletian’s reforms, it became part of the province of Dalmatia.
In Risan, there are several archaeological findings from the classical period. The remains of cyclopean walls have been found, as have those of the houses and streets of a place called Carine. In the very centre of the town the remains of the Roman Villa urbana with its floor mosaics have been discovered. The Villa was probably built in the 2nd century AD. The mosaics contain geometrical and vegetable motifs, as well as the exceptionally rare presentation of the classical God of Sleep Hypnos.
The Skadar Lake
is the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula, stretching between Montenegro and neighbouring Albania. Walkers can explore its surrounding mountains and you can also get a glimpse of some of Montenegro’s colourful wildlife as the area is home to over 200 different species of birds. This vast freshwater lake and its surrounding wetlands create the ideal setting for a peaceful hike around this famous National Park, with the added highlights of traditional villages and secluded pristine beaches also worth a visit.
Lovćen National Park
Just a short journey from Kotor is Montenegro’s third largest National Park. Lovćen National Park is located in the region of Dinara Alps, between the Lake Skadar basin, the Bay of Kotor and Budva. The rocky, steep limestone Lovćen Mountain rises to a height of 1749 metres, and walkers can be sure to see some fantastic views by walking up to the National Park’s highest climbable peak, Jezerski Peak (1675 metres). There’s also the opportunity to visit some interesting historical and traditional architectural sights such as the village of Njeguši, which is reached by heading uphill from Kotor on the Lovćen’s serpentine road.
The biggest and most important monument of Lovćen national park is Petar Petrović Njegoš's Mausoleum. The location for his burial place and the mausoleum at the summit of Jezerski vrh was chosen by Njegoš himself as his last wish.
Cetinje
King Nikola's museum was founded in 1926 in the residence of the last Montenegrin ruler, Nikola I Petrović Njegoš. It is located in the town's square It was originally established as a national museum in 1926 and later on as the State Museum of Montenegro. Today, it is predominantly of a memorial character, with the emphasis on the royal court as a political institution, created particularly at the level of state development, and its role in the foreign relations of the country. The museum has tens of thousands of exhibits distributed in archaeological, ethnographic and art collections as well as collections of medals, weaponry, plaques, seals, emblems, flags and photographs. The museum also has a court library with 10,000 rare books, among which are two Books of Psalms - "First-voice" and "Fifth-voice Octoechoes"

Three national parks
were created here 60 years ago. Durmitor, the largest, is about three hours by road from Tivat. At its heart is the mountain town of Zabljak, a winter ski centre, with hiking trails around its glacial lakes. Kolasin 1450 is the other ski resort it's the most modern of Montenegro's three resorts with snow-making.
Canyons
The fact that the deepest canyon in Europe is in Montenegro is not accidental at all.This whole area of high mountains is intersected by canyons whose grandeur is breathtaking. Roads pass through some of these and their verticals are well known (Morača, Cijevna, Piva and Ibar). You can discover others like the Tara River Canyon and canyon of the river Lim if you give yourself up to the wild waters, roaring rapids and waterfalls and emerald whirlpools while rafting or kayaking. A little more courage is needed for canyoning.
Tara Canyon/ White water rafting
Tara Canyon is the deepest canyon in Europe and the longest rafting in Europe. There are many companies which offer day trips to the Canyon which is about 2.5- 3 hours from the Villa's.
Ostrog Monastery
Among the many attractive churches and remote monasteries, dedicated to Montenegro's majority Orthodox faith, the most inspiring is at Ostrog , a vertiginous 10km drive up a mountain road off the main highway between Podgorica and Niksic. The monastery is the most famous pilgrimage site in Montenegro. It was founded by the Herzeg Archbishop Vasilije in the 17th century. He was buried here and canonised as a miracle-performing saint.The startlingly white monastery is hewn from the rock face, and there is usually a queue of pilgrims waiting to see the cloth-covered remains of the miracle-giving Saint Basil in one of two little cave chapels.

Sveti Stefan
Stevti Stefan is a tiny islet attached to the coast by a narrow isthmus and is one of the most iconic images associated with Montenegro. Once a fortified village dating back to the 15th century, the island of Sveti Stefan is a uniquely atmospheric setting of cobbled lanes, quaint courtyards and remarkable sea views.
Budva Old Town
Budva is an excellent example of such a town. Historical references date Budva back to the 5 th century making it one of Europe’s oldest, recorded settlements. The architecture of the old town has been well preserved. Walking through the narrow streets of this coastal haven, one easily gets a feel for how the city moved during its time.
Petrovac
Petrovac sits on the southwest side of Montenegro on what’s known at the Budva Riviera. Backed by pine trees and cypresses, this former fishing village is now an easy-going seaside town watched over by a Venetian fortress. Between terracotta-topped buildings you’ll find tucked-away shops and cafés, while down on the waterfront there’s a choice of beaches.
Porto Montenegro
The new Super Yacht Marina Porto Montenegro is located in Europ’s most southernly fjord on an old naval shipyard in Tivat near to the World Heritage sites of Perast and Kotor. The site has now been transformed to spacious waterside residences, restaurants, lively bars and a wide range of sports, leisure and cultural activities.
Golf Courses
Montenegro is soon to have it’s first 18 hole Golf Course royal Montenegro Golf & Country Club designed by Steve Marnoch, located near the airport at Tivat. The 18 hole golf course will have a club house, golf academy, training facilities and driving range and be completed by the spring/ summer of 2016. One of the best features will be the dramatic mountain and sea views from every hole.
In Luštica Bay internationally renowned golf course designer Gary Player is in a race to finish his 18-hole signature golf course first retaining those elements central to Luštica Bay: minimal environmental impact, and all-important views of the Adriatic and Boka Bay from every single hole.
The golf village of residential houses, hotel and marina will have a clubhouse, pool and tennis areas and an activity lawn, life here has already got off to a swinging start – with a fully active driving range and restaurant in place, plus lessons for ages eight to 16.
Hikers and Walkers, the Bay of Kotor is a wonderful base for day trips exploring the many wonderful walks some on ancient Austrian roads. The best time to visit the area is April to the end of June or September to end of October when it is cooler.
